Case Studies

The Community Restoration and Revitalization Act

NTCIC developed a series of case studies to demonstrate the potential impact of the bill to amend the federal historic tax credit. In each profile, narrative and financial information illustrates how a project's feasibility would be greatly enhanced by the passage of HR1043/SR584.

  • CASA de Maryland, Langley Park, Maryland - an aging mansion is poised to become a Multicultural Center to serve the surrounding Latino community;
  • Fowler Building, Waterloo, Iowa - the creation of art gallery, commercial and artist live-work space will help establish a growing arts-based downtown district;
  • Havre U.S. Post Office, Havre, Montana - a rehabilitated post office will bring offices, restaurant and a cultural museum to this rural community;
  • La Fontaine Building, Pendleton, Oregon - this project creates downtown housing, a critical component of the city's continued revitalization;
  • Severs Block Building, Muskogee, Oklahoma - rehabilitating this fire-damaged historic building would save a key piece of the city's vanishing historic fabric.
